"If you spend yourselves on behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday."
[Isaiah 58:10]
GIVING A HAND UP RATHER THAN A HAND OUT
Through the work of many diligent hands our vegetable garden produces an abundant harvest throughout the year. These vegetables are used to provide healthy meals for the Melusi community, to enrich the daily food parcels of our workers and to bless other ministries and many families in need. We do not sell any of our produce, we are blessed to freely bless others. What a privilege it is.
These men and women do not only walk home with a large food parcel consisting of vegetables, bread, dairy products and other basic groceries. They return home with pride and dignity as people who have worked hard for their food and not as beggars.
The greater gain is our workers receiving Jesus Christ, the bread of life! The only One who can fulfill our deepest needs.
"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was ill and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me. ... Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”
[Matthew 25:35-40]
